Actual production "runs" are applied to specific production plan
When production "runs" are finalize plans can be compared "Actual" vs "Estimated"

Materials Requirements to satisfy production plan caa be viewed on-line or reported based upon the explosion of the Bill of Material for each item to be produced
Daily and Weekly material requirement reports generated
Materials Inventory is updated as production occurs
Suggested Purchase Orders can be generated based upon the Production Plan requirements
Production Costing General Ledger entries are system generated
Actual material usage may update standard formula usage
Efficency reports are generated for management requirements

Purchase Order sysetm tracks and records purchase of packaging material,ingredients, finished goods, and miscellaneous items.
Can be used for both "Trade" and "Non-Trade" commodities
Suggested purchased orders can be initiated based upon inventory, re-order points, re-order quantity, and lead times
Multiple deliveries and varying delivery dates can be scheduled for each line item
